Keeping 4-player defense or changing to 3-4-3?
Luis Enrique's favorite full-back is Dani Alves. As happened in the 6th round of the group stage, Barça will face PSG without the Brazilian. Beyond he got a sprained ankle in the last week, he couldn't play due to yellow card accumulation.
Anyway, Luis Enrique will have to choose the way to replace Alves, and he has two options:
Keeping 4-player defense
It's the most probable options, since Barça don't need to risk too much. This way the coach would only need to change Alves for one of these men:
In this case, Luis Enrique's preference are also clear: Adriano might be the first choice. Less probable is that Montoya (he has only played 10 matches) or Douglas (4 matches) play.
Seeing Marc Bartra as right-back this Wednesday is quite improbable.
Changing to 3-4-3
This option was explored by Luis Enrique in the group stage. In that case, Barça needed the victory to be first and the coach decided to risk placing only 3 men in the defense, Bartra, Piqué and Mathieu. Mascherano helped from the midfield going backwards when necessary. Bartra was placed in the right and Mathieu in the left, with Piqué covering the central zone.
This Wednesday PSG have many unavailable players and it seems reckless to risk too much.
DISCUSS. Who should replace Dani Alves and why?
