Luis Enrique confirmed that in a press conference this Friday before the match against Deportivo
On August 9, 2014 Barça announced the signing of Thomas Vermaelen coming from Arsenal. On May 23, 2015, Thomas Vermaelen will debut with Barça's jersey. After a long recovery due to an injury caused in the World Cup, the Belgian footballer will feel what being in a field mean this Saturday against Deportivo.
Since June 2014, in the World Cup, he hasn't played any match
Luis Enrique confirmed it in press conference Vermaelen would play some minutes in the trivial match against Deportivo.
A match with many chances for non-habitual players
Xavi's tribute will be the main interest of Barça - Deportivo (6.30pm CEST) but it will also be a chance for the players with less minutes.
The goalkeeper may by Jordi Masip instead of Bravo. The young keeper has only played one game this season (against Huesca in the Copa del Rey) and would be a fair prize after one season being behind Bravo and Ter Stegen.
In defense, the full-backs Adriano, Douglas and Montoya could have options to play instead of Alves and Alba. Adriano has played 1,360 minutes this season, Montoya 910 minutes as a substitute of Dani Alves and Douglas, only 236 minutes. As center-backs, Bartra, Mathieu and the mentioned Vermaelen also have options to be starters.
As for the midfield, Sergi Roberto could play together with Rafinha and Xavi. Luis Enrique has confirmed that the midfielder will be starter on the day of his tribute. Thus, the usual players like Busquets, Iniesta and Rakitic will rest before the finals.
Finally we'll see if Luis Enrique places the three untouchable forwards or not. Pedro deserves some minutes and let's see if Munir, who participated in many trainings, plays.
