Poor record for the Englishman: 11 losses, 7 draws and 10 wins
While there are only 8 games to be played to end La Liga, Valencia made official the dismissal of the English coach Gary Neville. Moreover, the club informed that Pako Ayestarán will be the first team coach until the end of the season. He was Rafa Benítez's assistant coach in Valencia in the early 2000's.
Neville leaves Mestalla with a very bad-looking record that doesn't beat Nuno's, Valencia's coach until December when he was laid off because of his bad relationship with the fans. In 28 games, Neville had 11 losses, 7 draws and 10 wins, some bad figures for a team willing to qualify for the Champion's League. As for their position in La Liga, Valencia are now 14th with 34 points, 6 points above the relegation zone.
In a statement, that was how Neville said goodbye to his experience in Valencia: "I want to thank Valencia Football Club, the fans, staff and the players. I would have liked to continue with the work I have started, but I understand we are in a results-based business and in the 28 games - ten wins, seven draws and 11 losses - those haven't been to the standards I impose myself or the ones this Club requires."
