The new French centre-back talks after his transfer in an interview to 'France Football'
Samuel Umtiti isn't tired to say since he's arrived that playing for Barça is a dream for him. He talked about this new journey in an interview to France Football, in which the centre-back showed once again the happiness provided by the fact of signing for the Blaugranas.
The French defender affirmed he was aware of the change it implies to play in this club: "I won't be in the same world. In Barça everything is 10 or 100 times bigger. It is the very top level, to me there is no better place to keep improving." Umtiti knows the challenge ahead of him in this new adventure, but he asserts he is "going calmly" and that "it was the good time to take that risk." Actually, when the Barça offer got to him he had it very clear: "When I knew I had the opportunity to sign, in my head, it was done. I would have swum to go to Barça."
With the Blaugrana shirt some of his rivals will be footballers he faced in the European Championships final. Cristiano Ronaldo and Pepe defeated him in the final of the Euros, but Umtiti explains that he doesn't hold any particular feeling of revenge against them: "It will be another context. However, it is true they will be my opponents. I have already lost once against them, I hope it doesn't happen again."
