There is time for a fourth striker

Messi, Neymar and Suárez always start... or not?

Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez. The incredible treble. The three strikers Barcelona adore. There is no need for another one... Or it is? The debate is on the street. Do Barcelona need a fourth one? In the past two seasons with Luis Enrique, stats prove that there have been opportunities for other players. And the 16-17 season shouldn't be different. Suarez started later than the others on his first season because he was banned. Messi got injured during two months last year. Neymar will come tired from the Olympic Games this month. So things happen and a fourth great striker -young, maybe, who could play a secondary role- would have enough minutes.

2014 - 2015

Luis Suárez couldn't make his Barcelona debut until 26th October. This meant:

  • Pedro played 51 games in the season, 36 league matches (15 from the start), scoring 6 goals.
  • Munir played the first 4 league games as a starter. And Sandro appeared too.

2015 - 2016

At the end of September, Messi got injured against Las Palmas in a match at Camp Nou. That meant we had 54 days without the partnership between Messi, Neymar and Suarez.

  • Munir and Sandro had more chances
  • Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal could play more minutes when they made their debuts in January

2016 - 2017

What will happen this season? For a star, Neymar will join the squad later than anybody else (well, with Rafinha) because of his involvement in the Olympic Games. That will give a chance to either Denis Suarez, Rafinha, Munir or a new striker to prove himself in the Spanish Supercup and maybe in the first league matches.
