Without Iniesta and with Cristiano Ronaldo
The UEFA received a flow of criticisms for their ideal XI of the Euros' first match day. The tournament's organisation were oblivious of the great game Andrés Iniesta had against Czech Republic, in which he was player of the game, and they haven't put him in the best XI. On the other hand there is Cristiano Ronaldo, who had a very timid game with Portugal and missed a lot of clear goal opportunities to finally draw with Iceland.
There are 2 Barça players in that team: Gerard Piqué, who scored the winner for Spain, and Jordi Alba, who did a good game but not incredible. UEFA seem to have focused for this squad more on big names of big national teams than on the performances they offeres during the first day of competition.
For that matter, the absence of Hannes Thor Halldorson, Iceland's goalkeeper with the highest number of saves, or any players from Italy and Hungary, the two teams that won clearly against strong opponents like Belgium or Austria, stand out. After the squad was announced, the social media were full of critical comments about this ideal XI. What do you think?
