Six of them did it in Copa del Rey
The first rounds of Copa del Rey are a good moment to allow usual players rest and give minutes to the substitutes... and youth players. This is evidenced by Luis Enrique, because he let nine players debut, six of whom debuted in this competition.
This week was the time of Wilfrid Kaptoum and Aitor Cantalapiedra, two Barcelona B players who performed quite well. Last year, Edgar Ié and Jordi Masip debuted against Huesca and Alen Halilović and Gerard Gumbau did the same against Elche.
Munir and Sandro played for the first time with first team last August in La Liga, occupying Luis Suárez's place while he couldn't play. Sergi Samper is the 9th on the list. He debuted in Champions League match at the Camp Nou against APOEL last season.
The season with more debuts
Seen in perspective, 7 debuts last year (Munir, Sandro, Samper, ie, Masip Halilovic and Gumbau) make 2014-15 the year with more debuts of homegrown players.
'Tata' Martino let three players debut (Adama, Dongou and Patric), 'Tito' Vilanova only counted on Planas and Guardiola allowed 22 debuts, separated for seasons: 6 in the 2008-09 season (Busquets, Abraham, Thiago, Xavi Torres, Muniesa, Botía), five in the following one (Fontàs, Jonathan, Gai, Soriano and Bartra), 6 in 2010-11 (Miño, Sergi Gómez, Oriol Romeu, Nolito, Sergi Roberto and Montoya) and fifth in his last season (Cuenca, Deulofeu Tello, Rafinha and Riverola).
