They take part in High Roller tournaments
On Wednesday Javi Miguel explained in the Catalunya Radio show el Club de la Miitjanit one of the passions that Neymar and Gerard Piqué share: poker games. Neymar, apart from being the face of an online poker game company, is a great fan of this card game.
With Piqué they participate in High Roller games, for which the entrance fee is 25,000 €/ This is not the most expensive category (the 'Super High Roller' goes up to 48,000 €) but it already gathers some professional players. Moreover, the blinds (the first amount of money that one player puts on the table) of the first round are worth 500€ (big blind) and 250€ (small blinds) and, as usual, those figures get higher as the game goes on.
This summer the Gran Casino of Barcelona hosts a 'High Roller' tournament as part of the European Poker Tour, between the 26th and the 28th of August (which is the weekend of the second La Liga match day, on the 20th and 21st of August) and Piqué as well as Neymar are willing to participate. Curiously, is Neymar plays the final of the Olympics with Brazil (August 19th) and misses the first matchday in La Liga, it is possible to see him play poker in Barcelona before football...
It is not the first time that the two footballers take part in that tournament. The forward already featured in last year's edition (in which he managed to knock pros out) but he didn't do as well as Piqué. To try and beat the defender in this year's edition, Neymar took lessons from Andre Akkari, Brazilian professional player.
