The coach will have to play with a non-usual XI due to lows
This Saturday against Atlético Madrid, Luis Enrique will have to think a lot when deciding the starting XI to face one of the most complicated opponents. There many lows in the defense and we also have to take into account that the international players might be tired.
The scenario will be where Barcelona won La Liga last season with a goal by Leo Messi. But despite the problems a victory would be the best motivation for the non-usual players that will have to do a step forward at El Calderón stadium. Let's review line by line which the options for the puzzel of Luis Enrique are.
Available: Ter Stegen and Masip
Lows: Claudio Bravo
Shall be starters... Ter Stegen. After knowing Bravo's injury, Ter Stegen has the perfect chance to forget the mistakes in San Mamés. He conceded 8 goals in 2 matches but pressure doesn't affect him and he has quality to be starter in all competitions.
Available: Mascherano, Vermaelen, Mathieu, Bartra and Jordi Alba
Lows: Alves, Piqué and Douglas
Doubts: Sergi Roberto and Adriano
Shall be starters... Sergi Roberto, Mascherano, Vermaelen and Jordi Alba. In the right-back position, we find that Sergi Roberto has some muscle discomfort and we still don't know if he will be ready to play. Adriano has not received medical green light and an improvised option, if Roberto is finally not available, could be Bartra. Alves and Douglas are injured. The rest of the defense seems to be clear: Mascherano, Vermaelen and Jordi Alba.
Available: Rakitic, Busquets, Rafinha and Iniesta
Shall be starters... Rakitic, Busquets and Iniesta. The only part where we don't find problems. There might be some rotations due to tiredness after international matches, but Rafinha will have come back from the USA and Luis Enrique will probably opt for a veteran midfield.
Available: Messi, Suárez, Sandro and Munir
Shall be starters... Messi, Suárez and Neymar. The Brazilian had discomfort on his knee and he only played 10 minutes in the friendly of Brazil against the United States. He will come back to the trainings on Thursday and we will see if Luis Enrique makes him play or not. Suárez is ready because he hasn't travelled with Uruguay and Messi has travelled a lot but he will play, as always. Sandro or Munir could have some minutes.
