Coached by Guardiola, Barça got their 3rd Champions League
If we take a look at precedents between Barça and Bayern, we see that numbers are not really good for Culers. Both teams have faced each other three times in the Champions League and once in UEFA Cup, and we find one win, two draws and five defeats. The most painful, two seasons ago, with a 4-0 in the first leg and 0-3 at Camp Nou.
This single win had a protagonist who will be also present at Camp Nou this Wednesday: Pep Guardiola. FC Barcelona coach at that time beat Jupp Heynckes' Bayern in the 2008-09 Champions League quarterfinals. Catalans and Germans had not faced each other for 10 years and the Blaugrana team got a 4-0 in the first leg, with two goals by Messi, another by Eto'o and another one by Henry. It was another step forward for the winning of the third Champions League of the club's history. The second leg, in Munich, wasn't as brilliant as the first leg, but the 1-1 (goal by Keita) was enough to be in the semifinals.
This Wednesday, Barça and Bayern will face again. It will be the first clash between Luis Enrique and Guardiola. The number of wins can start to grow, or the defeats can be more. Will Luis Enrique's team winning streak be enough to overcome a Bayern full of lows? Will Guardiola's knowledge of Barça be useful for Bayern? Probably everything will be determined by minor details...
