If nothing changes...
Although the hierarchy is well established among Barça goalkeepers, and although his future at the club is ensured, Marc-André Ter Stegen is asking himself some questions. Will he be able to take Bravo's place as first team goalkeeper in La Liga? Does he really have Luis Enrique's trust as the Chilean? Is it worth leaving the best club in the world just to get some more game time right now? According to Sport, he is seriously thinking about leaving next summer.
According to the Spanish daily, the German goalkeeper asked for a meeting with the club to get a clear view of his near future at Barcelona. Although he is aware of being 2nd in the hierarchy behind Bravo, he is willing to get some more time. So much that he could threaten the club with a loan or a transfer if he doesn't get the starter position next season. Bravo's contract ends in 2018 but given his current form and his state of mind, he could get the opportunity to renew his contract for one more year (2019), which would seriously compromise Ter Stegen's short-term chances to be Luis Enrique's first choice.
The recent Clubs' World Cup where he wasn't chosen by Lucho as a starter made him doubt even more of his coming hour. The club is still thinking of him as a future number one, but his patience is starting to collapse. This could be the only spine in Barça's foot, who continues to thrive thanks to its magic trident.
