Espanyol prevented Barça to win 2007 Liga due to a goal by Tamudo, which was called 'Tamudazo'
Just some days before the derby between Barcelona and Espanyol, Raúl Tamudo recalled the famous 2007 match where a goal of his in the 90th minute at Camp Nou gave La Liga to Real Madrid. This event was called 'Tamudazo' and the footballer believes it can happen something similar again nine years later, when a defeat of Barcelona vs Espanyol could mean losing La Liga.
Here you have the statements of the former Espanyol player at the newspaper Marca:
"We were saved, but we wanted to finish La Liga well, because we had lost the final of Europa League. First I scored, then Messi scored 2 goals, one of which with his hand. Finally, in the 90th minute I did the draw goal. We were happy but at that moment we didn't know we prevented Barça to win La Liga because we didn't know what was happening in the match of Real Madrid."
"We would have celebrated goals the same way if we had done the same against Real Madrid." [Recall that despite being from the same city, there's big rivalry between Barça and Espanyol.]
Barça friends after 'Tamudazo'
"I had and I still have friends who are Barça supporters. In fact, they are real friends and they got happy for me because I scored those goals."
Could a new 'Tamudazo' happen on Sunday?
"Of course! Espanyol currently have important players who can score. Gerard Moreno, Hernán Pérez, Caicedo, ASensio... they are professional footballers who will try to score and win the match. Furthermore, Espanyol have 40 points and can still end up in the relegation zone."
"I am jealous of those who will play on Sunday. I would love to be there!"
