The European Golden Boot is still recovering
Uruguay will be missing Barça's number 9 Luis Suárez for their second consecutive game since the Copa América Centenario started. The Blaugrana ace is still recovering from a hamstring injury. In a press conference last night, the national team's coach Óscar Tabárez mentioned Suárez's situation. And he is not only thinking in the short-term, as he talked about the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
"Luis is in a recovery phase that has reached day 17", he said. "It is still not over and until it is the case he will not be played. He is too important of a player to be risked. This competition is important, but for us the Qualifiers are more important, we are first at the moment and Suárez's contribution, as always, will be very important."
Uruguay are facing elimination in case they don't win their group's "final" against Venezuela, who won their first match (1-0 against Jamaica) unlike the Celeste (3-1 defeat against Mexico). Kick-off at 1.30 a.m tonight (7.30 p.m ET).
