The first leg will be on the 28th of April and the second leg on the 5th of May
Just after the Champion's League semi-finals draw took place in Nyon, giving an interesting opposition between Atlético and Bayern, the Europa League semi-finals draw was made by Europa League final's ambassador, Swiss and FC Basel legend Alexander Frei. The former striker drew what could be a final before the final as Villarreal will face Klopp and his survivord of Liverpool in an explosive game between one of the most solid defences in the competition, and one of the most unpredictible teams of all, that has just knocked out the great favourites of Borussia Dortmund. The first leg will be played at El Madrigal, and the second leg, just like in last night's craziness, in the extraordinary atmosphere of Anfield.
In the other semi-final, two-time defending champions Sevilla will have an opened draw against Shakhtar Donetsk. Sevilla, who just beat Athletic Bilbao on penalties after 30 minutes of tense extra-time, are looking to make an unprecented treble in the competition. They will have to go to Ukraine first before to host the second leg in Ramon Sánchez Pizjuan. It will be a duel from the distance between Cédric Bakambu (Villarreal) and Kevin Gameiro (Sevilla) for the first spot in the goalscorers ranking. They both had 9 goals - they both scored yesterday in the second leg of the quarter-finals - and only need one more to level with Aritz Aduriz, who left the competition injured with his Basque team of Athletic.
The first leg will be played on Thursday the 28th of April and the second leg on Thursday the 5th of May. Basel is just one step away.
