In competitions with qualifying rounds, the Spanish team has won the last 7 finals
Sevilla is showing a very special romance with finals, as they have won the last seven they have played. The Andalusian team have not lost the match where a title is decided since 1962 in the competitions with qualifying rounds. A spectacular record that Barça can break in Copa del Rey final on Sunday at the Vicente Calderón.
Regarding Copa, Sevilla has won the competition in the two last finals they have reached. In 2010 they defeated Atlético Madrid at the Camp Nou (2-0) and in 2007 they won Getafe at the Bernabéu (1-0). To find the previous Copa final with the participation of Sevilla, we have to go back to 1962 when they fell 2-1 against Real Madrid at the Bernabéu.
In Europe, the dominance of Sevilla in the finals is also amazing. They has won in all five finals played in UEFA Cup and Europa League. In 2006 they defeated Middlesbrough (0-4) and in 2007 they beat Espanyol on penalties (2-2 // 1-3). In the last three years, with the name of Europa League, they have lifted the title in the three occasions: in 2014 against Benfica (0-0 // 4-2), in 2015 against Dnipro (2-3) and in 2016, last Wednesday, against Liverpool (1-3).
In competitions without previous rounds, like the UEFA Super Cup and the Spanish Super Cup, the numbers are not so good. Sevilla have won only one of the four UEFA Super Cups they have played (2006 against Barça) and one of the two Spanish Super Cups (against Real Madrid in 2010).
This Sunday, Barça have the chance to break these records before a Sevilla which can be tired after the demanding game against Liverpool and the subsequent celebrations.
