The clause will increase from 30 to 40 million euros
Sergi Roberto's big role this season, whether it is in terms of minutes or influence, will be rewarded financially according to the current contract of the player. In 2014, Sergi Roberto (with the intermediation of his agent Josep Maria Orobitg) signed a renewal with Barça until 2019. In this new deal Sergi Roberto had a first team player status but also (according to Albert Masnou of Sport) agreed to some optional clauses that, if completed, would automatically improve the financial income.
Sergi Roberto already played 2,415 minutes (only 100 less than Iniesta) and, as he will have completed more than the 60 official minutes a game, this will mean a wage raise, as well as an increase of the buyout clause: from 30 to 40 million euros. Another thing is that the club, taking advantage of this change of conditions for the player, could make him sign a new contract. However, this renewal would be processed after the ones of Neymar and Sergio Busquets.
