Robert Fernández

The person in charge to replace Andoni Zubizarreta —who was fired last January— as technical secretary has been announced: Robert Fernández. The decision was made public after the meeting of the new board and after Josep Maria Bartomeu being named new president. The former Blaugrana player will be in charge of the soccer first team, while Josep Segura will work in Barça B, and the U18 and U17 teams.

Robert Fernández (Betxí, Castelló, 5 July 1962) was a member of the FC Barcelona first team between 1986 and 1990. He played 196 matches in a Barça shirt and won three trophies in that time: two Copas del Rey (1998 and 1990) and a European Cup Winners Cup (1989). He also played for Castellón (1979-81), Valencia (1981-86 and 1990-95), Villarreal (1995-99) and Córdoba (1999-2001). He has been coach of Valencia B (2004-05), Córdoba (2005-06), Oriola (2006-07) and Alzira (2008-09).

Braida and Rexach will stay

Two of the members who formed the sports comission after Zubizarreta's dismissal, Ariedo Braida and Carles Rexach, will remain in the club: Braida, in charge of international scouting and Rexach, in charge of national scouting.
