Gerard Piqué conceded an intervew at the magazine GQ. The defense talks about hobbies but also about the rivalry between Barça and Madrid.

Rivalry

  • "I don't think I'm cooler than the rest. I am clear in what is my way of being and behave according to it."
  • "I love our rivalry and think that it's part of the show. The Barça-Madrid rivalry is what has always made us be among the greatest. So, from time to time I like to stir up the rivalry."

Spanish national team

  • "The national team are a family. We are teammates who have been sharing the dressing room for years - we have shared victories, defeats, doubts, problems, happiness, injuries and dreams. And I am not only talking about players, but also the physios, doctors, coaches, staff."
  • "Playing for the national team has given me so much. We have had good experiences and so many memories. I will play with them until I can no longer physically and mentally."

TV series

  • "I like watching TV series when I'm away with the team or have some spare time. I'm really into Narcos right now. It's strange because I'm more selective since watching Breaking Bad. I wasn't convinced to start with, but after the end of the first season and then the second, boom... they stepped it up a notch. I ended up loving it."
  • "I guess you have to give it time, be patient and trust them. The same thing happens with some players and coaches."

Diet

  • "Lately I take care of myself a lot. Over the years you learn about food and about your body."
  • "When I used to play for Manchester United, I could eat a Doritos bag [tortilla chips] and a jar of Nutella for dinner."
  • "Over the years you realize you can't perform eating it. You're physically weak, you get injured often and you feel worse in the field."
