"The last thing I would do is to quit the national team; it would mean admitting people who whistle are right"
Calm, relaxed and without regretting anything. Simply like he is. Gerard Piqué appeared in press conference after the polemical whistles he received in recent matches with the national team and after Sergio Ramos' statement against him. He showed he is not worried at all and that whistles don't affect him: in the first answer he explained that this Wednesday he went to the forest to collect some mushrooms, something very usual in Catalonia.
The center-back thinks that he is not whistled due to Catalonia - Spain rivalry, because he hasn't said "anything wrong" and considers that the crowd is wrong if they whistle because of Barcelona - Madrid's battle. "This rivalry has always existed and what I said during the treble celebration was a joke. If people don't like it, they will have to bear it. I'm like this."
"I feel fine. I'm positive. Yesterday I went to collect some mushrooms; we filled three baskets."
"I won't change how I am. I'm like this, a professional player. If people don't like it, they will have to bear it."
Rivalry Barcelona - Madrid
"I don't regret anything I did. I was wearing Buffon's jersey in the Champions League's semifinals. I always want Real Madrid to lose."
"I told Casillas before the Atlético Madrid 4-0 Real Madrid this: "I hope they score four goals." And it happened! It was incredible. It's normal! We still remember it together and laugh!"
"Kevin Roldán [the musician in Cristiano's party after a loss by R. Madrid]? It wasn't elegant to mention him in the treble celebration but it's part of the rivalry. Sometimes breaking the standards is good."
"If people whistle me for the Catalonia - Spain matter, they are wrong. If they whistle me for Barcelona - Madrid rivalry, I think I didn't have a lack of respect for anybody, I haven't said anything wrong. This situation mustn't affect the team."
"I think the problems come from Barcelona - Madrid rivalry and my comments against the opponent."
"I don't think it's a matter of Catalonia-Spain. Last year I went to the demonstration for the right to decide for independence and then I played a match and I wasn't whistled. This Friday I will go to the demonstration again."
"I am not affected by the whistles. People is free to do it. I'm more worried for the team or for Del Bosque."
Relationship with Sergio Ramos
"We don't have a very very good relationship with Ramos, but it improved with time. I feel comfortable with him."
Commitment with the Spanish national team
"I have played 70 matches with the national team and I have always given everything. What else can I say? I don't have to defend from anything because I have not done anything wrong."
"The last thing I would do is to quit the national team; it would mean admitting people who whistle are right."
"I don't play with the national team for money or prestige. I earn 50 more money in Barcelona and I have prestige here. It's the correct decision."
"The atmosphere in the national team is fantastic. I really have fun there."
