Mourinho won the battle against Manchester United and he has a new former Blaugrana player
It's official: FC Barcelona announced the agreement with Chelsea for the transfer of Pedro Rodríguez. The cost of the operation will finally be 30 million euros of which 3 million are dependent on performance.
After the summer with Manchester United trying to sign the player, Mourinho has appeared at the last minute and has won. Barcelona did not accept the offer of 25 million coming from Manchester, and talks between clubs at Camp Nou on Monday did not come to fruition. Thus, Pedro, after eight seasons in the first team of FC Barcelona, will meet with former team-mate Cesc Fabregas in Chelsea, who left the club last summer.
In a statement, the club has publicly expressed "gratitude to Pedro Rodriguez for their professionalism and dedication during all seasons he has been in Barcelona and wishes him the best for the future."
Pedro has achieved spectacular records: 5 Ligas, 3 Champions Leagues, 3 Spanish Cups, 3 European Super Cups, 4 Spanish Super Cups and 2 Club World Cups.
He has made goals for history, the last in the Super Cup final against Sevilla that meant victory. He also scored in the Champions League final at Wembley in 2011, the 2009 European Super Cup defeat vs Shakhtar in extra time or in the Club World Cup against Estudiantes to tie the game in-extremis when Barcelona was losing.
