The Andalusian forward chose the number 9 and signed for 4 seasons
On Friday, Nolito was introduced as a new Manchester City player for the 4 coming seasons and he will wear number nine under Pep Guardiola's orders. The English team paid 18 million euros for Celta's buyout clause and has brought in a player that Barça were after in the past winter transfer window.
Luis Enrique asked to sign the winger from the Canary Islands that had already played for Barça B and Celta but the Board couldn't seal the deal because they couldn't spend any more money. The bad relationship with the Galician club for the signing of a player originally from Barça have made for harder talks and, eventually, Nolito decided to go for Manchester City's offer.
In statements to City's official website, Nolito stressed on Guardiola's presence as a key factor in his decision: "I think Guardiola is one of the best managers in the world. He knows a lot about the game and he's going to help me progress as a player and I'm sure he'll get the best out of me." Aged 29, Nolito will have his first opportunity in a big club and will join Spanish players like David Silva or Jesús Navas.
