Barcelona beat Manchester City with a great performance from the Argentinian
Some footballers fell, other choose the wrong path, goalkeepers make mistakes, defenders only look but don't act, midfielders that shoot wide, other that don't play, some that doubt... and then there's Leo Messi. He's not in any of the previous groups. He appears every time he is needed. Against Manchester City, Leo Messi was the key man again. Three goals. Could have been more. Barcelona went past City this Wednesday at Camp Nou (4-0).
Guardiola used Gündogan instead of Aguero trying to compose a team with more midfielders. And it seemed to went well, until Messi broke the game with his goal in the 17th minute. To be fair it was Fernandinho's mistake, who slipped and let Messi in, but the Argentinian always finds a way to decide any match.
Piqué and Jordi Alba had to be replaced due to injury in the first half. Mathieu and Digne came in.
At the beginning of the second half, Claudio Bravo made a huge mistake and gave the ball to Suárez. The Uruguayan was set to score but the Chilean saved the shot outside the area and was sent off with a straight red.
Messi then came back to score two more, force a penalty and let Neymar take it. The Brazilian missed, but in the following action scored the fourth. It was game over for City since Bravo's red card.
With three victories out of three, Barcelona can say they are almost in the next stage of the Champions League.
