Héber Lopes, referee for the Copa América final, talks about Barça's Argentine
Leo Messi gets praises from all over, especially from referees. The Brazilian official Héber Lopes, who refereed the final of the Copa América that Argentina lost to Chile, talked about the good behaviour of the Blaugrana ace.
"He is one of the most polite players I have refereed, for his impact and his name. He is very polite with his opponents, as well."
"He doesn't cause problems during the game. He has an accentuated humbleness. The people see players from an inferior level and they have a different behaviour. With him this doesn't happen."
The failed penalty
"The ball almost went outside the stadium. Then you think: how can this happen to a player of that level?"
"At the end of the game, an image that marked me was to see Messi on the bench, sitting alone. I realised he represented what he represents. We feel for his sadness of having lost."
