FC Barcelona player Javier Mascherano has admitted €1.5 million tax fraud, between 2011 and 2012. Mascherano declared in court in Barcelona this Thursday, accompanied by his lawyer David Aineto.

The Economic Crimes Prosecutor accused him of concealing part of what he earned in image rights during those two years. According to judicial sources, the player has admitted two offenses, so Mascherano spent only a few minutes in court and was not questioned by prosecutors.

The court's press office said the player has already paid back the amount he owed plus €200.000 interest, so he will benefit from a reduction of sentence in case of conviction.
