According to Mundo Deportivo, the coach trusts in the Catalan player if Dani Alves leaves
Barça are planning the next season signings. While most media suggest that the club seeks a right side, Mundo Deportivo has distanced itself from this information and points out that Luis Enrique will opt for Sergi Roberto and Aleix Vidal in this position if Dani Alves leaves the club.
The Spaniard is very satisfied with the performance of Sergi Roberto in the 13 games he has played in this position. Roberto has understood the concepts very well and did not need any adaptation process to compete at the highest level. He attacks when he has to attack, has a good technique, good physical level and should only improve some defensive concepts such as covering mates or his position in the defensive line.
In addition, Luis Enrique has Aleix Vidal as another right-back. Vidal cost €18 million and has already completed one season at Barça. Although he has not been quite regular, he might have a second chance.
If Alves leaves, the club won't take much effort to sign a right-back. They prefer to spend their budget on one or two center-backs and in the 4th striker. Also, if Mascherano went to Juventus, it could not be ruled out the possibility to sign a defensive midfielder, as Sergi Roberto would be more focused in the right-back. Planning keeps going on and can still give many surprises.
