"The only thing that I know right now is that I have lung cancer. Nothing more."
Johan Cruyff wanted to write a letter to thank the support received after knowing he is suffering lung cancer. The former Barcelona player and coach wrote a letter on the Dutch newspaper 'De Telegraaf', and he regretted that news spread so far. "The only thing that I know right now is that I have lung cancer. Nothing more," he said.
Cruyff said that there are still more tests to determine the exact extent of the disease.

"Media are often an additional burden, but this week it was different. It was emotional and touching to see how a variety of media responded to my situation. I am very proud of the support shown.
I do not mean to say I'm happy with what happened to me. But if I do not think about my situation, then everything is very special. The action of clubs, not just to me but to applaud all cancer patients as well, is a beautiful thing. Thus, football and its fans showed a very pretty image.
Meanwhile, we have to wait. It was really disappointing that it leaked out because the only thing that I know right now is that I have lung cancer. Nothing more. The investigation is ongoing, I know the name of it but not the surename."
