The player thought he would participate with Croatia
Alen Halilović is experiencing one of the hardest moments of his short soccer career. Barça midfielder was ruled out of the Croatia squad for Euro 2016 this summer. Coach Ante Cacique has decided to manage without one of the most promising players in the country, so Rakitic will be the only Barça player in the list.
Halilovic's agent Zoran Stojadinovic has revealed bad mood of the player: "He is downcast. Neither he nor nobody expected it," admitted at Goal.com. In addition, Stojadinovic went further and hinted that there may be other criteria beyond the sport: "He has played more than others who are in minor leagues... This often happens in teams such as Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro. I am not saying it is a political decision but it is true that there are powerful people around the coach that can influence him."
Halilović, 19, has signed a good season at Sporting Gijon and this summer he will come back to Barça after the loan transfer. However, the player does not have a guaranteed place in the first team and is likely to leave again to continue growing as a player.
