After the last play-off matches have been played, we know all the opponents for Barcelona in the group stage. These are the opponents classified this Wednesday:

  • Manchester United, Bayer Leverkusen, FC Astana, CSKA Moscow and BATE Borisov

How will the draw work

Start: 5.45pm CEST

Helping in the draw as a tribute to the 5 Champions Leagues achieved by BarcelonaAndoni Zubizarreta (1992), Juliano Belletti (2006), Carles Puyol (2009) and Éric Abidal (2011).

Pots

32 teams will be there (20 entered directly and 10 via play-off). They will be divided in 8 groups of four teams.

In the Pot 1 we find the current champion, Barcelona, and the 7 teams that have won the league in the highest-coefficient country. Since Barcelona is also a league-winner, PSV will occupy the 8th place, since the Duch has the 8th best coefficient.

Pot 1: Barcelona, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Benfica, PSG, PSV Eindhoven and Zenit

Pot 2: Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Porto, Arsenal, Manchester United, Valencia, Bayer Leverkusen and Manchester City

Pot 3: Shakhtar Donetsk, Sevilla, Lyon, Dynamo Kiev, Olympiakos, CSKA Moscow, Galatasaray and Roma

Pot 4: BATE Borisov, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Wolfsburg, Dinamo Zagreb, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Ghent, Malmö and Astana

  • In the group stage, a team of the same league can be paired.
  • During the draw, the Best 2014/15 European Player will be also be voted.

FC Barcelona schedule

The Barça team making the journey will be led by president Josep Maria Bartomeu and three players: Messi, Suárez and club captain Andrés Iniesta. Also travelling will be director of professional sports Albert Soler and director of football administration Raul Sanllehí. In addition, Andoni Zubizarreta, Carles Puyol, Éric Abidal and Juliano Belletti will be there as representatives of Barça’s past Champions League successes.

12.30pm (to be confirmed): Departure of private flight to Nice.

2.00pm: Arrival in Monaco.

From 5.45pm to 7.00pm: UEFA gala at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco and the draw for the Champions League groups.

7.30pm: Press conference with the winner of the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award, exclusively for the media that voted.

8.15pm: Return flight from Nice.

10.00pm: Arrival in Barcelona.
