The mythical Oasis singer, Noel Gallagher, is a big fan of Manchester City and he was able to meet the English club's new coach. In a curious conversation, Gallagher and Pep Guardiola discuss his philosophy, his challenges at City or his tastes. This is the best of this chat with the Catalan coach.
Why have you come to the Premier League?
"For the weather..."
"In Barcelona and in Munich we were capable of winning many games in a row. In the Premier League, any team can defeat the others, therefore it will be hard to win five or six games in a row. What will I have to do to achieve it? I don't know. I have never been here, I have never tried this league. That is why I am here, to win a game and wonder three days after if we will be able to do it again."
"I have come here to learn. If not, I would stay in Barcelona."
"I saw them with Barça and Bayern, and they are unbelievable."
"The challenge is to play the best possible. I want to convince the players to play the best they can and try that people, City fans and football fans in general, can be proud of our game."
"I have an idea of how we will play, but I don't know anything from here, I am really excited to know and to learn. Before I went to Bayern I had to learn German, it will be similar here."
"Some people, like in Germany, said I wouldn't adapt. And that's why I am here, to do so. It is a great challenge, I will try."
"The ones who know me know htat I think about football 24 hours a day. I love this game, what I do, and people must know I work for them."
"I grew up in the best football school in the world of the last twenty years. When I became the first team coach, I gave Busquets and Pedro the opportunity. If they show me how good they are, they will have options. It depends on the players' quality."
"In Barcelona, the press are going crazy, I will survive the press here, no problem."
