As Weloba could know, the player is still considering leaving the club
Sergi Roberto wants to play more minutes than now, but during recent months he seems to have made a step forward in Luis Enrique's team. After his good performance against Eibar, he was starter against Almería, played the last 10 minutes against Valencia and the last 35 versus PSG in the second leg of Champions League quarterfinals.
In these last matches, the coach trusted him instead of Rafinha and he has done a great perfromance. He also showed his versatility playing as defensive midfielder, which brings more options to the coach.
However, this doesn't mean that these four matches convinced the player to stay in Barça. This season he has only played few minutes and if he doesn't have more protagonism he prefers to leave. This decision could change in the next days, for only important matches are left and having an important role could make him change his mind and stay in Barça.
As Weloba could know, there are four teams interested in him: Everton, Stoke City, Bayer Leverkusen and Juventus. Premier League is still his priority, but he hasn't taken any decision yet. Now he still wants to leave, because if we take a look at the whole season, Rafinha has played the minutes he should have played. The protagonism he had in the last matches surprised him, since he couldn't imagine playing in the Champions League quarterfinals or being starter in La Liga.
Barça haven't told him they don't want him and his relationship with Luis Enrique is very good, since they know each other from when they both were in Barça B. The coach always tells him he is perfect in the trainings, that his attitude is perfect, that he should have more minutes but that this is impossible.
This Friday, when Luis Enrique was asked in press conference about the presence of Roberto in the latest matches, he answered he decides according to what he sees in the trainings, in the matches and the physical condition of the players: "There are many factors. The doors are open for those who want to open them, or even better, for those who want to eat them."
Sergi Roberto has never stopped showing his aim to play, but we'll see if he has minutes enough to be willing to devour the club's doors.
