FC Barcelona don't want Neymar's numbers to surpass Messi's
The renewal of the contract of Neymar, which ends on June 30 2018, continues its course. While all reports indicate that the agreement between the parties is very close, some details are yet to be determined. There is no hurry: the signing can be done once the season is over, in June, but important details should be determined in the upcoming days. For example, the termination clause of the contract, which is one of the most controversial issues in these negotiations.
The figure included in the current contract is €190 million. A great amount of money, but not to frighten Manchester United. Therefore, the club wants to increase it as much as possible (the figure currently negotiated would be around €220 million, according to the newspaper Mundo Deportivo), but it must be always kept below Messi's €250M clause. This is the real limit, both for salary and the clause: Messi's figures.
Moreover, the Brazilian's father has claimed in several interviews for legal and tax guarantees to continue in Barcelona and the Spanish league. This could result in a commitment to defend Neymar against the investigations of the Spanish justice and even facing possible fines.
