In an interview to the Guardian, Gerard Deulofeu talked about his current state at Everton
Since he left Barça to Everton, in July 2013, Gerard Deulofeu learnt a lot about how important work his for a young profesional footballer. After an unsuccessful season in Sevilla, despite having won the Europa League, the winger went back on loan to the Liverpool-based club, in order to improve even more, and prove he can be a regular. Although his team is not doing so well in the League, they're up for the 2nd leg of League Cup semi-final against Manchester City (they won the first leg 2-1 at Goodison Park). This was the occasion for Deulofeu to make the balance since he started playin for the Toffees, in an interview given to the Guardian.
Everton's bad results
"I think we can win every game because we have an amazing team but in some parts of the game we need to take responsibilty and concentrate more."
"It's more in the head. We need to show more passion. The games against City and Chelsea we played so well and I don't know why we couldn't do it in the others."
His season at Sevilla
"Last year was so bad because I didn't have confidence in the whole year. I played from August to January or February but from February to June, there was nothing."
"I was not in the squad. I was training good every day but I didn't have the confidence of the coach."
His return to Barça
"I've not spoken to the coach, no, I'm an Everton player."
"I have three years on my contract and one optional year maybe. My focus is on Everton, 100%."
"Of course, Barça is part of me because I was there a lot of years but I'm now an Everton player."
"Barça have two years on the buy-back but that is the decision of Barça."
"I would like to do what Cristiano has done, start wide and go into the middle as a 10 or a 9."
"At Barça, I played as a 9 and I think I played well. If you are there, you have more chances to make a bigger impact."
