After 8 years and a record of one World Cup and one European Championship
It is now official. Vicente Del Bosque leaves the bench of the Spanish national team after 8 years at its head. The Spanish Football Federation published a statement in which they explain that the coach gathered with Villar and communicated him the idea that he didn't want to stat the head coach of the national team.
Villar accepted the decision and offered him to stay in the Federation as "Spanish football heritage". Del Bosque accepted the offer and his new role will be communicated in the coming days.
Aged 65, Del Bosque had already said a long time ago that he didn't want to keep going at the head of the national team after the Euros and the elimination against Italy precipited the announcement. The coach ended his journey with a record of one World Cup and one European Championship in his two first participations but he then knew failure as he was knocked out in the two next ones.
