The Spanish Federation decided it this afternoon
The venue of Copa del Rey final have been determined. The match between FC Barcelona and Sevilla will finally be played on May 22 at Vicente Calderon, the stadium of Atlético Madrid.
This was decided this afternoon in the Spanish Football Federation meeting, as reported by Xavi Campos (Radio Catalonia).
The original date was May 21, but that day it was impossible to play the final in Madrid, the more balanced option for teams in terms of location: there was a concert at Bernabeu (Bruce Springsteen) so this venue was dismissed, and therefore any mass event could be organized in the city that day for reasons of logistics and security.
The Copa final has been played 12 times at Calderón. Barça have been there four times, two wins and two defeats. The last occasion was in the 2011/12 season, when Guardiola's team beat Athletic Club 3-0.
