Carlos Alberto Torres was Brazil's captain when the Brazilians became World Champions in 1970. The former defender criticised Neymar in his role as captain of the Seleçao:

Take the armband away from him

"If I were the national team coach, the first measure I would take would be to ask Neymar to be humble enough to give back the captain's armband so the coach can try it with another player."

"Being captain doesn't fit him. Pelé has never been captain. Neither has been Garrincha. Nor Ronaldo, Rivaldo or Nilton Santons. Why does Neymar have to be the captain of Brazil?"

"I would put Miranda as captain."

What role does he have to have?

"It's best to let him play and free him from this responsibility of leading the group. He needs to think only about playing football."

"It would bring more to the team than what he's done..."

Lack of leadership

"When Dunga was in charge, the team had no leadership neither on the pitch nor out."

"Take the captain's armband away from Neymar can't be only a decision from the coach."
