Barça Supercopa 2011

In Tbilisi, FC Barcelona will try to equalize Milan in number of UEFA Super Cups won. So far the Blaugrana team have achieved the title four times and if they win Sevilla on Tuesday, they will get an original copy of the trophy.

Historically, Barcelona has played eight Super Cups, four as Champions League winners and four as a champion of the Cup Winners' Cup with a winning percentage of 50%. When played as winner of the Champions League, they have won it three times (1992 vs Werder Bremen, 2009 vs Shakhtar Donetsk and 2011 vs Porto). They only lost once: it was in the disastrous match against Sevilla in 2006 with Rijkaard on the bench.

As a champion of the Cup Winners' Cup, the club have only been able to win the trophy once. It was in 1997 against Borussia Dortmund. Previously, the club had lost against Nottingham Forest in 1979, Aston Villa in 1982 and Milan in 1989.

Remember that the trophy is played in a single match since 1998. Before there were two legs. Moreover, until 1999, the UEFA Super Cup faced the Champions League winer with the Cup Winners' Cup. Since 2000, the winner comes out of the match between the Champions League winner and the now called UEFA Europa League winner.
