The club tried to keep a link with the player to get him back but he refused it
In the press conference of Denis Suárez, Barça's sporting director, Robert Fernández, talked about the exit of a footballer that was formed in Barça and who decided to pack his bags because of the lack of game time. It is Marc Bartra, who will start a new journey at Borussia Dortmund after they paid the 8 million euro buyout clause he had for not playing a minimum amount of games.
Robert regretted the player's exit and recognised they were still counting on him. For that motive, the club talked with the player to tray and keep a link with him to be able to bring him back later. "We asked the player to seal a deal with Borussia to have a buy-back transfer option in the 3 next years, but it wasn't possible. He surely has his reasons", said Fernández.
He also added: "We didn't have absolute control, there was a clause and our hands were tied. Barça didn't want Bartra to leave." This means the Blaugranas won't have an option to get the 25 year-old defender back but they are confident that in the future, he can come back to Camp Nou to display all his talent.
