Atlético Madrid went on to the next round after a stifling penalty shootout

Two more games of the Champion's League last 16 second leg were played tonight. Manchester City and Atlético Madrid have gone through to the next round of the European competition.

Simeone's team have gone through after beating PSV in a thrilling penalty shootout. The first 90 minutes ended on a 0-0 draw and during the 30 minutes of extra-time the score didn't change either. The penalty shootout was incredibly tense between the Spaniards and the Dutch. 16 penalty kicks were needed to decide the winner and, eventually, Luciano Narsingh missed one. Juanfran scored the decisive goal that sent Atlético back to the quarter-finals.

On the other hand, Manchester City and Dynamo Kyiv drew 0-0 in England, which means the Sky Blues went through to the quarter-finals thanks to the 1-3 win in the first leg. Pellegrini's squad, after 2 consecutive years in which they were eliminated by Barça, have reached the quarter-finals for the first time in the club's history. The negative news is that the 2 centre-backs went out injured: Kompany and Otamendi.

On Wednesday it will be Barça's turn, that receive Arsenal in Camp Nou (with a 0-2 lead from the first leg). There will also be Bayern - Juventus, that ended on a 2-2 draw in the first leg in Italy. On Friday, the draw will be made, a draw Real Madrid, PSG, Wolfsburg and Benfica are already part of.
