The former Barça player scored the last penalty that meant classification of Guardiola's team
Thiago Alcantara scored this Wednesday the final penalty (4-5) for Bayern Munich to classify for DFB-Pokal after drawing vs Bayer Leverkusen 0-0. The player was key in his second game since his injury, which kept him out of pitches for a year.
Leverkusen pressed from start to Bayern and took the lead of the game in a first half in which Guardiola's team only defended. After 34 minutes, more bad news for coach Guardiola, as the center-back Mehdi Benatia got injured joining, as they are Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, Bastian Schweinsteiger and David Alaba. But the entering of midfielder Sebastian Rode made them play better.
After the half time Bayern continued to improve and had more possession. But after full time and extra time with 0-0, the match was determined in the penalty shoot-out. Bayern scored all five and Thiago was the man in charge of the last one.
