On Monday in Barcelona there has taken place the handing of prizes by the football magazine Panenka. Former Barça player Eric Abidal attended the event, alongside Rayo Vallecano's coach, Paco Jémez, the two awarded of the gala. The French received the honor prize by the magazine, for being an example of the capacity of succeeding in life and in the sports world. Former Barça player atteneded the media there and talked about current Barça and about his future:

State of the team

"Barça are a very big club with great players that are used to this kind of issues. Now they are more united than ever."

Leo Messi

"Messi is always ok. He can't always be at the top but he always score goals. He's always a key player, now more than ever and this is the best."

Messi vs. Cristiano Ronaldo

"Knowing that Messi and Ronaldo are the greatest players, people are taking a closer look on them. I won't doubt of any of them both. Ronaldo only has to recover. Being a professional can also be affected by his private life."

Abidal's future, in Barça?

"I have an offer from the Club, you already know that. I have talked to the president lots of times. Right now I haven't decided, I will take the time that I need, I have no rush."

Favorite team to win La Lliga?

"This is not a question, it's logics: Barça."

Desire to succeed

"Football players are in a very different bubble from the rest. We have a lot of advantages but we can't forget that we are normal people that can suffer an illness or other problems. We can't forget the people that need help."

"It is an important detail, I try to be as modest as possible, helping people, being a model... I don't want it but this is the way it is. I've fought for me and my family, it's the change that has to be taught and give to the people that are also suffering."

Football as a progress model

"For me, sport is the best way to show people that living with other people from other countries and origins helps you grow. This teaches us to all of us, it allows us to learn a lot. It's a matter of being as united as possible to achieve objectives."
