With a trident like Messi - Luis Suárez - Neymar, apparently the offensive contribution should be for these 3. This season in Barça, in a lot of matches, it depended of the geniality of the 3 unbreakable to sove matches. They han a less important role in nterior matches, a darker job and an eye to look behind and stop the rival's transitions. After first months of good performances, Ivan Rakitic lost protagonism during the first round. With discreet perfomances in important matches or even absent on the starting XI of big matches, apparently the Croatian has found the speed to give all his works.

Against Granada he opened the score, he assisted Suárez in the 0 to 2 and started the move of the third goal with a great pass. In a match where neither Neymar nor Messi were highlighted, the midfielder, who was born in Switzerland raised to be the leader of the team in the final stage of moves. Reaching the second line and approaching the 3 forwards a lot of times during the match, characterized for the direct attack and the definition on boxes. At Weloba, we wanted to review the stats of Rakitic in last matches he played as starters, taking a closer look to the offensive section of his record.

On the 25th Fixture he played the whole 90 minutes, he tried 7 key passes, he kicked 3 times and he scored one goal and gave one assist. A highlighted performance to close February the best way possible. In Granada we saw the most offensive Rakitic of the last month, and the team, in a match that was thankful to this fact.

Comparison with the other 3 matches in February where Rakitic played as starter:

Granada - Barça (1-3)

  • 7 attemps of key passes (3 good, 4 bad) // 3 shots (2 on target, 1 out) // 1 goal and one assist in 90 minutes.

Manchester City -  Barça (1-2)

  • No attempt to key pass // 2 shots (both out) in 71 minutes.

Barça - Levante (5-0)

  • 5 attempts of key passes (2 good, 3 bad) // 1 shot off the target in 62 minutes.

Athletic Club - Barça (2-5)
