FIFA confirmed the dates of the World Cup 2022
FIFA confirmed this Thursday the dates of the first ever winter World Cup. The 2022 World Cup final will be held on December 18 in Qatar. Moreover, the start of the date tournament is unclear but FIFA has suggested it would be a week an half shorter, in later November. That would mean it beginning around 21 November.
The tournament dates were unclear and the fact that there will be too high temperatures during in Qatar if the competition had been celebrated in summer, lead to this decision. One of the last commitments that FIFA had was that the deal with the European Club Association, to compensate it over the release of players for the next two World Cups.
The decision of giving the World Cup to Qatar was taken four years ago. It was a very controversial decision because there haven been allegations of bribery and corruption during the whole process. And it's still seven years to come.
