Zhe Dong

FC Barcelona offers a curious story: a young man from China travelled from his country, through Asia and Europe to attend a Barça match at Camp Nou. Zhe Dong started his journey in the province of Hubei and hitch hiked to the Catalan capital, where he could enjoy the victory versus Villarreal 3-2 last February 1.

“When I felt low, Barça was like a guiding star that showed me the way to Barcelona and Camp Nou”

During the route, he went through Beijing and then on to Manchuria. From there he made his way westward across Russia before arriving at the Baltic states of Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia. His journey continued as he continued through Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Italy and France before finally landing in Barcelona. “There were some difficult moments, but at the same time I met a lot of people who helped me and who encouraged me,” remembers Dong. “When I felt low, Barça was like a guiding star that showed me the way to Barcelona and Camp Nou.”

Before the match, the same day he arrived, he visited Camp Nou and Barça's Museum, where he felt "like home", and the Training Center, where he could see well-known faces. "I had a dream and it came true,” he says. “The idea was to come and show my enthusiasm and love for Barça.”
