Barjuan played in the Dream Team, together with Guardiola, Xavi or Luis Enrique
Barcelona's next opponent, Almería CF, have a new coach. And this coach is well known for many Barça supporters: the former Blaugrana player Sergi Barjuan. The new coach will replace Juan Ignacio Martínez, who has been fired after Almería's bad results. It's a matter of fate that he may travel to Barcelona this Wednesday to face Barça in his first match as coach (the game will be played at 8pm CEST). This Monday afternoon he will be in front of the team for the first time in a training session.
Sergi Barjuan (43) was Barça's full-back from 1993 to 2002. The defender was trained in Barça's Academy, La Masia, and after reaching first team in 93 he soon became usual starter, being named as captain in the season 2001/02. Sergi played 452 matches for Barça and was a team mate of Josep Guardiola, Luis Enrique (during five seasons) and Xavi Hernández (for three).
As coach, he was manager of Barça's U18 for two seasons (2009-11), and he also stayed at Recreativo de Huelva from 2012 to 2014.
