FC Barcelona handball player, Nikola Karabatic, has been voted best player in the world. This Wednesday evening the International Handball Federation (IHF) has announced the result of the votes with more than 55,000 people having participated. The French won with 33.7% of the votes, beating Mikkel Hansen (PSG's full-back) and Omey (Montpellier goalkeeper).

"It’s an honour that I want to share with my team mates from both teams and with the coaches"

"I am very proud of have being chosen for the second time as the best handball player in the world. I want to thank my team mates at Barça and with the French national team," admitted Karabatic, who picks up the award for the second time in his career. He had already been chosen best player in the world in 2007. This time, he won it again thanks to his performances with Barça (Asobal League, the World Club Cup, the Asobal Super Cup, the Copa del Rey and the Catalan Super Cup in 2014) and the French national team, with which he won Handball World Cup.
