After 14 years without winning La Liga, Johan Cruyff arrived in the club and Barça won 0-5 at Bernabéu, winning the title at the end of the season
Barça won La Liga in 1960... and no more titles until the 70s. President Agustí Montal, seeing no titles in the museum, decided to seek for a decisive player to help win. On August 13, 1973, Barça and Ajax closed a deal to transfer Johan Cruyff, who arrived in August 23 but couldn't debut until October 28 (against Granada in the Day 8 of La Liga) because he had problems with the 'transfer'.
The day Cruyff debuted, Barça was 14th in the standings, with 6 points. They won Granada 4-0 and a winning steak began: they didn't lose any match until Day 32, achieving 18 wins and 6 draws. They became leaders in the Day 13 and won La Liga with 8 points more than At. Madrid.
The most remembered match of this winning steak is the game played on February 17, 1974 at Santiago Bernabéu. Mora (temporally in Sadurní's place), Rifé, Torres, Costas, De la Cruz, Juan Carlos, Rexach, Asensi, Cruyff, Sotil and Marcial (subbed-off by Tomé at the minute 70), were the XI lined-up by Rinus Michels that could win Real Madrid 0-5. The scorers: Asensi (min. 31 and 52), Cruyff (min. 39), Juan Carlos (min. 65) and Sotil (min. 70).
