The player who pretended to be Bielsa

It was an away game when Marcelo Bielsa was calling the players every half an hour because he wanted them to watch videos he was preparing. The players were tired of videos. One day, Iñigo Perez, pretended to be Bielsa on the phone and called the assistant coach. When Bielsa found out, he got angry and woke up the full squad.

In the 70's, music to train

Back in the 1972/73 season Milorad Pavic decided to change the training methodology and decided to use music during the training sessions.

Pigeons to announce the goals

Back in the 1946-47 season Athletic Club used a pigeon to announce that the local club had scored a goal. The ideas was from a fan.

Zarra's red card

Athletic Club legend Telmo Zarras only saw a red card during his career. It was back in the Copa del Rey final in 1944 against Valencia... and it happened because of a joke. According to Zarra, there was an opponent on the floor and one of his team-mates joked with the idea to step on him. They hid the trophy of the first Cup

Athletic joined Bilbao Football Club to play the Copa Coronacion, that they end up winning in 1902. The problem was that the creditors confiscated Athletic's social property and they had to hid the trophy in Alejandro Acha's home. When Acha died, Athletic asked their family to return the trophy.
