The Dutch press insists on Barcelona's interest
Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad and Spanish Mundo Deportivo insist this weekend in Barcelona's interest in signing Robin Van Persie in the January transfer window. Would be the 31 year old a good option for the Catalan giants? Let's find out.
Van Persie has been one of the best strikers of the world. Maybe he's not anymore, but he has averaged one goal every two games during his career. His numbers in his last two seasons at Manchester United were not impressive. However, they were under David Moyes -in a fatal season- and Louis Van Gaal. Strikers are struggling in Manchester under the Dutch manager and Van Persie also had different injuries last season. With less minutes to play at Barcelona, if he is fit, he can provide a decent number of goals.
Van Persie has a great friendship with Thomas Vermaelen, who would help him in his first days in the dressing room.
Low transfer fee
Van Persie signed for Fenerbahçe last summer for only 4 million euros. Even he signed a three year contract with the Turkish club, if he wants to leave Barcelona wouldn't need to pay a much higher transfer fee. He's 31 years old and could be valuable for two more years at least.
He started as a winger, but he's no winger anymore. Some people think he could only replace Luis Suarez in the central forward position. However, as Luis Enrique play with the three attacking forwards in a more central position than before, he may fit in any of those positions.
Despite the effor they have shown lately, Sandro and Munir don't have enough quality yet to perform at the greatest level. Nolito, the desirable option for January, may be too expensive for a substitute.
